Lipgloss Teen Magazine Spring/Summer fashion spread
Wearable, youthful brights and fresh faces were the order of the day for this editorial – as always, click the images to view them larger (so hard to fit landscapes into the blog format!) or just check out Lipgloss issue #6 online.

Kontrol Magazine, April ’11 beauty spread
Just received copies of my beauty spread with photographer Angela Michelle Perez, which appeared in the April issue (aka The Art issue) of Kontrol, an Atlanta-based fashion, culture & lifestyle magazine. Since the credits and products used are listed, I’ll just let the clips do the talkin’! (Click the images to see them full-size.)

Sessions Magazine editorial
I’d almost forgotten about this shoot, from Halloween during my 2010 NYC testing trip – I was a last-minute addition to the roster and literally wrapped this a few hours before I boarded Amtrak to return to Massachusetts. We had a great time getting Gemmy prepped in the Starbucks on Front Street in Brooklyn (you gotta do what you gotta do on a location shoot)! The clothing designer, Eminent Fash, subsequently submitted our work to an online magazine called Sessions – here is the spread:
And since I know it’s hard to actually see the makeup in this layout, here are a few close-ups from the shoot:

Beauty spread, T&M Magazine issue #5
I’m very proud to finally be able to show the images from a shoot I did with Tyler Shumway during my sojourn to NYC last fall, which have been published in the most recent issue of T&M Magazine (pages 74-77), an Anniversary issue focusing exclusively on beauty. We had the pleasure of working with models – and newlyweds – Alex and Natasha:
Our description:
Spring beauty redefined: the skin is shower-fresh and aglow, but with a color palette inspired by the fervent passion of the season (and a pair of models who just happen to be newlyweds), the look is anything but pastel!
It ended up being a nice balance between the season we shot it (Autumn) and the season it printed (Spring). I’m thrilled to see our work alongside so many other amazing editorials!
Products used:
- Graftobian Hi-Def Crème Foundation
- Smashbox Artificial Light, Diffuse and Glow
- Yaby eyeshadows (Dramatically Neutral and World of Pearl palettes)
- MAC eye kohl, Teddy and Smolder
- MAC fluidline, Lithograph
- Makeup Forever Glossy Full Couleur #9
- BeneFit Benetint
- Cover Girl Lash Blast
- Essie nail lacquer, Wicked (I’m no nail tech, but I think I did a nice job!)

Message in a bottle
What I did on 1/1/11…
See the full story here.
What a fantastic day that was… I even got to do a little prop styling! (Mostly stuffing vintage glass bottles with flowers and hanging them in a tree.)

Natural light
…it comes and goes! Saturday was the perfect example of how shooting outdoors in natural light can be both exhilarating and unpredictable. Myself, model Chioma, and photographer Stephanie Pierce traveled to the Quabbin Reservoir (so beautiful!) only to be teased and ultimately thwarted by light that was either too intense, or disappeared entirely behind the treeline.
Eventually we found ourselves a gorgeous field along a hill with an unbroken skyline where we proceeded to make the most of the setting Autumn sun:
Bright, direct sunlight can be very unkind if you’re wearing too much makeup, or the wrong colors, so I kept the makeup very natural, showcasing Chioma’s amazing features with just a bit of blush and coral tones on the lips. We kept going until the light disappeared behind the mountains (which is happening earlier and earlier everyday it seems). It was a tricky start to the day, but we got some lovely images in the end.
Soon I’ll be retreating to the studio for shoots like this – not too many models are excited to shoot outdoors in freezing temperatures!
